phil buccellato
Phil was born and raised right outside of NYC. He ended up settling out in the little town of the woods previously known as Boswijck, Brooklyn. Its called Bushwick today. Soon he would find himself caught up in a strange world, looking for conveyor belts at 3 am, trying to figure out how to fill a full sized swimming pool with jello, matching colors to manilla envelopes, or racing against the clock to paint a 80 foot map of the world. This was Phil's welcome to the art department. It was a natural progression, after spending two years at an art school in Baltimore, and later transferring into and graduating from the NYU film program. He now regularly art directs and designs for music videos, commercials, and feature films.
Recent projects include music videos for the bands Ra Ra Riot, We the Kings, Prophet Omega, and MC Lars. Other projects include 2 AOL web commercials, a documentary feature about musician Arthur Russell, and a Serbian feature film featuring Cyndi Lauper, called Here & There. Phil was fortunate enough to get a job in the art department under the incredible production designer Mark Friedberg for such films as Wes Anderson's, Darjeeling Limited, and Charlie Kaufman's, Synecdoche New York. He also recently worked on a short film by Mira Nair.
Phil runs Greener Media with the help of a talented group of filmmakers and professionals. His love for documentary keeps him involved in some really cool projects, and gives him a nice break from being up at 4am trying to make scale replicas of the moon. Phil was the cinematographer for Jon Fletcher's, Calvin & Sweetpea and Sean Donnelly's, I Think We're Alone Now. He is currently developing several new documentary projects so stay tuned for more.
